A question about Meca? Here are the answers to the most common ones. If you can't find what you're looking for, write to us at contact@gomeca.ca or call us at 514-552-7449.
You describe your car's problem (in writing, with a photo, with a video, or with an error code read by an OBD2 adapter). Meca asks a few precise questions, like a mechanic would, then gives you an urgency level (can you drive or not?), the likely causes and, with Premium, a repair price estimate.
No. Meca is not a mechanic or a garage. Diagnoses are general estimates produced by artificial intelligence: they may be incomplete or inaccurate, and prices are never a quote. If your vehicle seems dangerous (brakes, steering, smoke, overheating, fuel smell, red warning light…), stop in a safe place and call a professional or a tow truck. In an emergency, dial 911.
It depends on where you subscribed. In every case, it is free and needs no phone call:
Meca does not offer refunds for a subscription period already paid, but your rights under the law remain (see the Terms of Use, section 10). For a subscription bought in Google Play or the App Store, refunds are handled by the store under its rules. To exercise a right provided by law, write to us at contact@gomeca.ca.
You keep Premium while the payment provider retries. Update your card in Settings → Manage my subscription (subscription taken on the web) or in the subscription settings of Google Play or the App Store.
Check your junk folder, wait a minute, then ask for a new code. If nothing arrives, write to us at contact@gomeca.ca from the same email address.
In Meca: Settings → Delete my account (at the very bottom), or on the Delete my account page. Your account, vehicles, conversations and documents are then deleted. Please note: deleting your account cancels a subscription taken on the web, but it does not cancel a Google Play or App Store subscription: cancel it first in the store (see “Cancelling my subscription” above).
Meca sells no information and shows no advertising. The text, photos and videos you send are used to produce your answer and are processed by our technical providers, including an artificial-intelligence provider. It is all explained in the Privacy Policy.
A small compatible Bluetooth LE (Low Energy) OBD2 adapter, ELM327 type, that plugs into your car's OBD2 port, under the steering wheel (present on vehicles sold in North America since 1996). On iPhone, Bluetooth LE is required: a “classic” Bluetooth adapter will not work. See the guide Which OBD2 adapter should I buy? before buying.
For any question about your account, write to us from your Meca account's email address. Never send us a password or a card number.
